About Our Staff - FAQ on Laboratory accreditation and staff experience:

Q: Is the CRBI Laboratory accredited?

A: Yes, the lab is inspected and accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) every two years, in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) standards. It is registered with the FDA and is periodically inspected. The lab also voluntarily complies with the standards of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

Q: Are the laboratory staff members certified?

A: Yes, the staff is certified by the American Board of Bioanalysts (ABB) as technical supervisors (TS) in the specialty of andrology and/or embryology. Lab members are required to have significant experience in assisted reproductive technology (ART) and must pass a written examination on their specialty. In addition, they participate in continuing education opportunities locally and nationally to attain and maintain their certification. This is a voluntary accreditation which CRBI supports to further the ongoing education and professionalism of our IVF staff.

Q. Is the laboratory director certified?

A: Yes. Jaime Hogerty, Ph.D., serves as a full time, on-site board-certified Laboratory Director for CRBI. She is accredited as a High-complexity Clinical Lab Director (HCLD) through ABB.

Q: How is the laboratory’s performance monitored?

A: Staff participates in the American Association of Bioanalysts Proficiency Testing Service and the WSLH Proficiency Testing Service which compares its results with those obtained by other labs. In addition, the lab performs additional internal proficiency testing to obtain consistent results within a defined acceptable range.
